This morning I was eager to capture the response of our local venue - 'Next Door Records'. Below the cafe area they have an events space where they often have live jazz bands perform, some of which my house mate and I have gone to watch.
When I woke up I popped down to the shop by myself in order to check with the staff to see if I'd be able to carry out the procedure. They were absolutely fine with it, so with this news I ran back to the house collected the gear, then returned with videographer Verity Hughes and the necessary gear.
I set the microphones up on true stereo, as in this situation, I actually had the space to do so. The configuration regarding sound source and microphones that I used I think is called the aurilization approach. This is where the sound source, in this ase a balloon is stood at one side of the room which could be imagined as the stage and then the microphones are positioned where the audience would be sat. This worked well and I'm happy with the result.
